Daniel's Review ofCooper's SanitizerCooper's Sanitizer is, in fact, sodium percarbonate, an oxidizing agent that is found in a number of household cleaning products. When it is dissolved in water it releases hydrogen peroxide and soda ash (a kind of salt that is safe to consume). I find it to be a very easy sanitizer to use. I've never had a batch get a bacterial infection while using it. Just add it to water and stir until dissolved. Dunk your equipment it in for thirty minutes. Your stuff only needs a single rinse after that, and it doesn't have to be with boiling water. I used to use bleach, but I had to rinse and re-rinse with boiled water until I could get rid of that chlorine smell. This is much better. The only problem I have is that is can bleach your clothes if you splash any on you (or so I hear - it's never happened to me). If you'd like to give Cooper's Sanitizer a try with your brewing, MakeBeer.net sells a 280 gram bottle for a five bucks. Just click on the picture to go to their site. |
